Teatime Caters at Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast Middleburg VA

It takes a brave couple to schedule a winter wedding reception in the Washington DC and Northern Virginia area as it only takes a dusting to clog all traffic.  Our first wedding reception of the year 2015 was at the lovely Briar Patch Bed and Breakfast in Middleburg VA. www.briarpatchbandb.com Set in the countryside of Virginia and the quaint village of Middleburg, this bed and breakfast venue has a magnificent ballroom for events.

 The weather outside wasn’t exactly “frightful”, but inside was certainly delightful.  Guests celebrated the ceremony in a separate space, and enjoyed a hot chocolate bar as well as a variety of wines and beer during the cocktail hour.  One of our passed appetizers were Stuffed Mushrooms with Herb Cheese and/or Spicy Sausage Filling.

 Wedding Reception #2 of 2015 is only one week later at St. Francis Hall in Washington DC.  Set within the grounds of the magnificent Franciscan Monastery, this is truly a hidden gem.  The venue is stunning with cathedral ceilings and polished wood floors – PLUS it has parking!!

 One of my favorite parts of this particular wedding reception was the father of the groom made all the wine!  This was a seriously dancing group, and after the cake cutting –

St. Francis is a venue where we cater a lot in 2015.  Five days after the above wedding, we catered a reception for a private Washington DC gathering of 250 guests for a semi stand up buffet.

We have catered this particular annual event several years in a row, and without fail it snows as shown looking out the kitchen window.

Teatime Winter Views

 Hot Crab and Artichoke Dip; Chutney Chicken Salad; Grilled Indonesian Chicken on Bamboo Skewers; Assorted Domestic and Imported Cheeses and Crackers; Fresh Fruits; Fresh Vegetable Basket; Marinated Roast Pepper Beef on Toasts w/ Chipotle Cabernet Cream; Assorted Bite Sized Desserts were served on this wintry afternoon.

Let’s throw in one more January winter weather challenge!  The annual Newton White Mansion’s Bridal Expo held in Mitchellville MD.

 Newton White Mansion is one of a dozen properties included in Elegant Settings www.pgelegantsettings.com which offers a wide variety of elegant and unusual propertied in Prince Georges County Maryland. While we were one of many caterers being featured at the Expo, make no mistake, NO ONE offered a wedding cake this beautiful or unusual:
