Passed Gazpacho Shooters

This is a re post from a blog entry nearly two years ago.  The Thomas Birkby House is a fantastic wedding venue in Leesburg VA.  It was recently sold and is once again available for rentals, our catering company has booked our first wedding there in September. I am delighted to revisit this post:

“Saturday’s catered wedding reception was held at the Thomas Birkby House, in historic downtown Leesburg VA. www.birkbyhouse.com
Another spectacular spring day here in Northern Virginia and the
Washington DC area,  we didn’t even need to turn on the air conditioning
inside the tent!

We set the bar up outside on the courtyard of Birkby House, while our waitstaff Terri passed Chilled Shooters of Gazpacho.

Our bartenders served chilled red and white wines as well as a
selection of beers and brewed iced teas.  Other appetizers included a
Domestic and Imported Cheese and Cracker Display including Rice Crackers
for Gluten Free observers.  We also passed Silver Dollar Salmon Cakes
with a Roasted Red Bell Pepper Sauce or Pesto Cream along with a display
of Baked Brie in Puff Pastry and French Bread.

Guests milled about the brick patio with scattered bistro tables.

And our lovely bride Lauren enjoys a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio.
Once the guests had finished their cocktail hour, they invited into the grand Birkby tent.

The menu featured Ruth’s House Salad of Mixed Greens, Tomato,
Scallion, Pecans, Dried Cranberry, Gorgonzola in a Balsamic Vinaigrette

We also served Chicken Picatta, Carved Steamship Round of Beef,
Linguini with Sun Dried Tomato-Cilantro-Parmesan, Breads and Rolls, and
of course a Fresh Fruit Arrangement with Seasonal Fruits.

The bride and groom are English majors; they decorated the
guest tables with stacks of their favorite books.  For the cake topper, a
family member created an adorable custom made top featuring a bride and
groom standing on top of a couple of books.

When it was time to actually do the wedding cake cutting ceremony
we took the cake to the nearby Gazebo and the bride and groom did the
photo op just before the sun set.  One tier of Yellow Butter with Fresh
Strawberry Filling, and another with Chocolate Fudge Cake with Fresh
Raspberry Filling.

As a local Washington DC caterer, we never tire of this beautiful
venue, and lo and behold, we are at the Birkby House again this coming
weekend!

Best of luck to the bride and groom!”
