Signature Cocktail for your Wedding Reception?
Blood Mary for a Brunch Reception |
How delicious does a spicy Bloody Mary Cocktail sound? Excuse me, I am briefly stepping into the kitchen to find out…!
Specialty Cocktails for a wedding reception. For couples on a budget, a signature wedding cocktail can be a great way to go. At your reception, rather than having an open bar, serve your guests beer and wine, champagne for the toast, and then one special cocktail. Make sure it has a fun and flirty name, and consider making a festive sign announcing it for the bar.
One of the most fun parts of wedding planning is getting creative with the details. Even something as simple as renaming your favorite cocktail can do the trick (Cindy-tinis, anyone?)
Sangria |
I will admit I am a sucker for all things Sangria. Incorporate fresh, in-season fruit, local produce and any of your personal favorite flavors. It’s all about creating the perfect cocktail that not only tastes great, but is a representation of you as a couple. As a caterer in Northern Virginia and Washington DC, we serve a lot of White Sangria.
Basic White Sangria Recipe
Bottle Chardonnay
Peach or Apricot Brandy
7-Up or Neutral Flavored Club Soda
Sliced Mango, Peaches, Nectarine, Raspberry, etc. There really are no rules when it comes to the fruit with the possible exception of banana which would just get mushy. Place the fruit in bottom of pretty clear glass pitcher, muddle slightly, add wine and brandy to taste, and top off with something sparkly. Adjust to your own desires. Heads up folks, this drink can really sneak up on you!!
Blushing Bride in an Urn |
Another option is to present a drink in a decorative urn during the the cocktail hour with fun glasses such as mason jars.
Firefly Cocktail |
Want more? Of course you do! Suggested names “Sweet on You” “Strawberry Vodka Lemonade” “Honey, I Do Honeydew Martini” “The Blushing Bride Champagne Cocktail” to just name a few. We served Mohitos during a reception where the groom was from Peru. It could be from a favorite vacation spot for the couple. It could be the time of year: Here in the Washington DC area we celebrate Cherry Blossom Festival in April, and during a recent wedding we served a Prosecco with a splash of Raspberry Chambord with fresh raspberry as a garnish to compliment the beautiful colors of the blossom.
Best part of all will definitely be the research! Sounds like another reason to have a party!
