Spring Catering Ideas for 2016

Fantasy escape with Teatime Delicacies, Inc
Ruth’s Spring.  In her head.

I originally posted this at about the same time of year 12 months ago.  Guess cabin fever was setting in then as well!  Looking out my window here in Northern Virginia Mother Nature has paid us a visit.  Again. So let’s revisit the fantasy.

What the heck is happening to spring, who took it, and I want it back!
Yes, I would like to cater a wedding reception on the front lawn
of this hotel in the Hawaii.  I have faith that my many potential brides
and grooms would have no problem flying myself and crew just to be able
to taste our marvelous cuisine served with tremendous hospitality. Rainbow optional but welcome.

Ruth’s Spring.  In reality.

Back to reality.  Sunrise at Hilton Head South Carolina.  This is
where the owner of Teatime Delicacies catering will be spending the
next seven days starting TOMORROW!  (insert 2016:  I would so love to be THERE right now!) Escaping Washington DC, escaping the
deplorable winter weather of Northern Virginia. I can practically hear
my daffodils screaming “I think I can I think I can” as they wait to
explode into bloom. (2016:  those little daffodil soldiers have been screaming to bloom since late December.  That’s how wacky our weather has been this year)

It’s the first day of spring.  It’s snowing out right now.  It’s in the 30’s.  I want a party.  Inside.

A Wedding Cake Suggests Spring

Cherry Blossoms are supposed to be at their peek here in the
Washington DC area in several weeks. (2016: still true)  I could suggest a wedding cake with
SUGAR Cherry Blossoms.  Well, actually those do rock.

Cheshire Cat with Teatime Catering

Perhaps Spring fell down the rabbit hole as did Alice in Alice In
Wonderland.  Perhaps The Cheshire Cat is mocking the season?  Did
Spring open the wrong door and wander through?

Teatime Caterers with Ring Bearer Dog
Add caption

Did the dog eat it?  “I didn’t ask to be a ring bearer for this wedding reception.”
Seriously folks, the expression on the dog’s face pretty much sums up how we all feel right about now.  I want sun and mid 60’s. (2016:  in the 30’s today, supposed to hit 70’s next week…)
What’s a caterer to do?  Besides a vacation that starts tomorrow?
I suppose a diversion such as blogging on the Winter That Will Not Go
Home.

There have been some great weddings with Teatime in January and
February of 2015.  The difference being, THOSE ARE WINTER MONTHS.  (2016: planning a catered wedding reception in the Washington DC area takes on a lot of risk.  While the typical climate may not bring on massive snow fall – this winter it did, the blizzard of 2016 brought our nation’s capitol to a grinding halt for nearly a week in late January.  It takes a strong constitution to be able to weather that king of stress.  Apologies for multiple puns.)

So I will keep it brief today, and leave you with one more photo.  Haunting and beautiful. And Spring at Sunset. www.weddingsinfairfax.com
