What is not to like about the above photo? Wikipedia defines Comfort Food as “traditional food which often provides a nostalgic feeling to the consumer, and is often characterized by a high carbohydrate level and simple preparation. Comfort foods may be consumed to positively pique emotions, to relieve negative psychological effects or to increase positive feelings.” In other words, we like them because they taste really good.
It is an interesting idea to incorporate this type of menu into a catered wedding reception. A couple may not want the buffet to resemble a high school cafeteria menu or take out from IHOP, but creative comfort food is an awesome idea. Who doesn’t live Mac ‘N Cheese? It’s not just for kids. We knocked this classic on it’s ear by using Brie, dipping the sandwich into a light egg batter and grilling in butter, then topped with a dollop of Raspberry Jam. Cut into bit size portions on a toothpick, it has all the qualifiers: butter-sweet-bread PLUS cheese!
