How gorgeous is that salad?!?!  Nothing more refreshing and delicious at a warm summer wedding reception than Ruth’s House Salad.  This time we mixed it up a bit using Mixed Greens, Tomato, Scallion, Dried Cranberry, Toasted Pecans – and instead of our traditional Gorgonzola Cheese we instead used Shaved Parmesan in our signature Balsamic Vinaigrette.  
We recently catered a wedding reception at the lovely Old Town Hall in Fairfax City, VA www.fairfaxva.gov
The party got started with a selection of wines and beers as well as several chilled Cider offerings, a welcome refreshment on a warm summer night.

 The main dining/ballroom of Old Town Hall has beautiful wood floors, wood beams, and large windows bringing in lots of light during the daylight hours.  The bride and groom were going for a rustic look, with burlap runners and simple flower centerpieces.  The appetizers featured Manchego Tappas (a risotto cake with Manchego cheese tucked inside –  melted), Assorted Bruschetta, and a Kosher Style Anti Pasti Arrangement using only Beef Cured Meats as well as Marinated Vegetables and Assorted Cheeses and Crackers.

 The main buffet style menu not only featured Ruth’s House Salad, we also served Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Garlic Roasted Red Bliss Potatoes, Carved Steamship Round of Beef, Fresh Fruit Arrangement, and a Pasta Salad of Bow Ties, Blanched Snow Peas, Sun Dried Tomato and Fresh Dill…

 Keeping with the simple and rustic theme, the bride and groom wanted a simply decorated wedding cake as well.  Ruth served her classic Yellow Butter Cake with Fresh Strawberry Filling iced with a non traditional style.  Not loops or squiggles for this couple!
