Wedding Cake with Yellow and Silver
This past weekend’s wedding reception was held at Riversdale, a National Historic Landmark. It is a five part stucco-covered brick plantation home built between 1801 and 1807. It is one of the rental properties of MNCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation and can be found at www.pgparks.com As Saturday’s catered reception was over 70 guests, the party was held under a tent adjacent to the mansion and garden that features many species native to the area and time period.

The weather felt more like August than October, but sunny skies prevailed and the guests were seated after the ceremony under the inviting tent. Open on all sides, every angle offered a relaxing view of the property.

The bride and groom had colors of gray/silver and yellow/gold, with gray overlays on the tables and yellow lanterns hanging from the tent ceiling. The cake will also feature this color combination. The wedding reception menu featured Cog Au Vin, Carved Roast Beef, Ruth’s House Salad, Linguine with Sun Dried Tomato – Cilantro – Parmesan, Fresh Fruits, and Bread/Rolls. Appetizers included Bruschetta, Silver Dollar Crab Cakes, and a Domestic and Imported Cheese and Cracker Display set up next to the bar.

Later in the reception we brought out the wedding cake that had been displayed inside the mansion for cutting. Again, the cake featured hand cut – scored and painted silver leaves with a yellow floral design. The flavor was Yellow Butter with Fresh Raspberry Filling.
