On a cool afternoon or evening, the fireplace is a cozy addition. |
Sunday’s wedding reception took place at Cabell’s Mill in Centreville VA http://www.fairfaxcountygov/parks/hprs/cabells.htm
Located in the wooded acres of Ellanor L Lawrence Park, Cabell’s Mill is a charming property operated by Fairfax County Historic Parks and Recreation. Build prior to 1800, it operated as a mill up until 1916. It was privately purchased in the 1930’s and currently can be rented for private events. The back stone patio is perfect for a wedding ceremony (top photo). The fenced terrace over looks a creek set amidst the woods. The creek was fairly calm this past weekend due to no recent rainfalls, but we have worked this venue when there is the creek more resembles river than creek! It is very peaceful, and the venue has available at least 50+ chairs for the ceremony.
The surrounding parkland provides numerous photo opportunities for the wedding party while the remaining guests head inside for the bar and appetizers. Gazpacho Shooters and Quesadilla Wedges were served along side a refreshing white sangria.
The upper level of the mill (the second photo) shows the interior of the venue. We generally do the guest seating and bar on the upper level and the buffet on the lower level. The bride and groom selected a Fajita Station for their buffet. An assortment of warm Flour Tortillas; Grilled Chicken and Grilled Flank Steak Strips; Sauteed Bell Pepper and Onions; Assorted Grated Cheeses; Sour Cream – Guacamole – Salsa – Jalapeno Peppers. The menu was filled out with Ruth’s House Salad and a Display of Fresh Fruit.
Conveniently located right off of Route 28 and Route 66 in Centreville VA and lots of parking.
Best wishes to the bride and groom!
