After all these years, I finally wandered over to the Dark Side:  Cupcakes!!  I normally don’t offer cupcakes as one of my wedding cake options.  Thought maybe it was a passing fad, maybe they didn’t look as glamorous as a wedding cake, would they dry out?  I really don’t know why I stayed clear of these little gems.  But I had a bride request them and I thought, ” What the heck?”
Well, I can tell you these little babies were off the charts melt in your mouth.  Two flavors:  Lemon Butter w/ Raspberry Cream Frosting, and Red Velvet Cake w/ Cream Cheese Frosting.  The bride and groom provided little signs that had the flavor name on one side and their name on the other. 
The Saturday event was in the middle of the Washington DC melt down where over a million homes where without power from a vicious storm Friday night.  So our event was a small oasis of cool, from the temperatures, to the signature cocktail, “Love Potion” featuring rum, coconut rum, peach brandy, pineapple and cranberry juice.  Then the evening was topped off with these cupcakes as guests left for the hot summer night.
