Over the many years Teatime has designed and decorated hundreds of wedding cakes. Take a trip with me down memory land to explore the myriad of ideas used by brides and grooms when purchasing or making a cake top for their wedding cake. Pets and/or animals have been a popular idea.

Sometimes the cake top replicates actual pets, other times it’s part of a theme, butterflies. Ducks were a running joke with one bride and groom. We have seen Rocky and Bullwinkle, Mr. and Mrs. Tasmanian Devil, even a set of otters.
Party favors for this wedding reception were rubber duckies.
Another popular choice is using a cake top that has been handed down in the family, either a parent or grandparent’s original top. Interesting how similar they look, suggesting there were not nearly so many options in previous generations.
