Teatime Catering Bar in Washington DC

Inn at Little Seneca in Boyds MD.

Providing a bar service for your wedding reception, anniversary party, birthday party, or any type of celebration often involves providing bartending service.  Teatime Delicacies can provide you with fantastic bartenders as well as guidance to quantities.  Our clientele generally prefers to purchase their own alcohol, it can be a significant money saving option.  Teatime can provide all the non alcoholic beverages as well as mixers, glasses, and soft drinks, iced tea.

Depending upon the layout of the venue, we can present some of the stationary appetizers along with the bar service.  The above photo shows our Sugar Spiced Apple wood Smoked Salmon with Water Crackers.  Our bartender, Kim, is preparing the bar by placing beer and white wine is galvanized steel tub to chill. This is the first things we, as the caterer, do when we begin our set up at any venue.  We chill down all the alcohol.  A money saving tip I often suggest is to use clear plastic disposable glasses for your bar.  You never know if every time a guest request an additional drink, they want a new glass.  For 100 guests this means we need to bring approx. 300 glasses.  While we certainly can arrange this, if it’s not a priority, by all means do NOT spend money there!

A middle of the road formula for a typical wedding reception of 100 guests sticking with wine and beer only recommends the following:

5+ Cases of Wine:  Red and Wine

5+ Cases Beer

18 Bottles of Champagne or Sparkling Wine for Toast
If you select a beer like Blue Moon be sure to give us a head’s up so we can provide the oranges!

Additional note on red wine.  There are MANY venues who do not allow red wine to be consumed on their property.  It not only stains carpets, it can do a number on wood floors as well.  Please read venue rules carefully, you do not want to discover you are unable to drink your favorite beverage 2 weeks before your wedding!!

If you decide to go with a full bar, we recommend keeping it simple; offer 5 basic spirits:

Vodka
Gin
Rum
Jack Daniels
Scotch

Of course, you can adjust any of this to your particular tastes. 2 1.5 liters of the vodka, run, and Jack Daniels is again a middle of the road estimate, with 1 liter bottles of the gin and scotch.  If you know your guests are hearty partiers, by all means increase the amounts.  Stores like Total Wine have policies where you can sometimes return unopened cases.  Remember that if you are at an off site venue, the simpler the offering, the easier it is for guests and bartenders alike to serve and receive drinks.  Many brides and grooms are offering signature drinks during the cocktail hour.  A recent Peruvian groom wanted Mohitos served, the perfect reflection of his background.  Even serving a white Sangria is a refreshing change from the standard glass of white wine.
