Wedding Reception Appetizer Ideas with Northern VA Caterer
Appetizer Grab! |
Congratulations – you are getting married! You are going to throw one of the biggest catered parties of your life, and it’s going to rock the house! And the number one thing people are expecting to indulge in will FOOD and DRINKS!
Appetizers. Heavy Appetizers. Lots of Appetizers. Who doesn’t love appetizers? So often the appetizer portion of a restaurant’s menu is the most interesting section. I know many people who would prefer to make a meal out of several appetizers than go for a regular entree.
So no matter how you decide to format your wedding reception – buffet, sit down dinner, heavy apps only, here is a recap of some of Teatime Delicacies, Inc.’s options created over the recent 2014 year here in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC metropolitan area.
Some were created specifically with a particular bride and groom – starting with my groom who loved chicken and waffles. How on earth do you scale that down into an app – particularly in a venue with no kitchen? Teatime knows how to make THAT happen!

Another groom’s favorite were bacon wrapped dates. Done!

Sometimes an old stand by like Chilled Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce can be a passed appetizer by presenting it in a fun display:

A Domestic and Imported Cheese and Cracker Arrangement is a crowd pleasure. We can supplement it with Rice Crackers and you have a Gluten Free alternative. Our Brie is served with a Cranberry-Raspberry-Walnut Topping that is not only beautiful, it’s delicious.

In September our bride requested (via mother of the bride) something with “beef-onion-mushroom” via appetizer. We created a sauteed tenderloin of beef tip with caramelized onion and mushroom in a red wine reduction.
And served in the adorable little spoons!

Two of Teatime’s most regular requests are Quesadilla Wedges with Salsa, and Baked Artichoke-Parmesan and Spinach Dip served with French bread.

Gazpacho; Roasted Butternut Squash and Corn; Shrimp Bisque – it’s a truly fun way to surprise a guest. Instead of a little “bite” it’s a little slurp!
Don’t be afraid to ask your caterer to “cater” to YOU. If your favorite thing in the world is Pigs In A Blanket – just OWN it!! Embrace those piggies – it’s YOUR wedding reception and it should reflect your style and sense of whimsy.

The main thing to remember is it’s a party. It’s time to gather with great friends and family, eat nosh and drink to your hearts content. And about that bar…? Well, that will be another blog post another day!
