Summer wedding receptions in Washington DC and the surrounding Northern Virginia area – what better menu option than our popular Grilled Indonesian Chicken on Bamboo Skewers with a Peanut Dipping Sauce!!  This is by far Teatime Delicacies’ most requested menu item. With a whimsical presentation this chicken dish is served cool and perfect for a warm afternoon reception at a private home in Leesburg VA.  Part of our “Heavy Appetizer Menu” this is a utensil free option that works very well when there is limited table seating.

 Set up on the family’s kitchen island, we also served our Seasonal Fresh Fruit Arrangement, Marinated Roast Pepper Beef with Chipotle Cabernet Cream, Manchgo Tappas, Bow Tie Pasta Salad with Fresh Dill – Sun Dried Tomatoes – Feta and Snow Peas, Baked Artichoke-Parmesan-Spinach Dip with French Bread, Assorted Domestic and Imported Cheeses and Crackers, and passed Gazpacho Shooters.
After the ceremony in the back yard, guests mingled around the pool for cocktails and buffet.

 Later in the early evening guests enjoyed one of Ruth’s fabulous wedding cakes.  Lemon Butter with Fresh Raspberry Filling and Chocolate Fudge Cake with Mocha Filling, decorated with fresh flowers and purple satin ribbon.

 Catering a wedding reception at a private residence can be an intimate and rewarding experience for the family.  However, it does have unique challenges that people should consider.  Will you be able to provide parking for all the guests? Will your bathrooms withstand more than usual traffic or will you need to rent portable toilets?  You will have to bring in a lot of rentals such as tables, chairs, plates, linens, glasses.  Will you have amplified music outside that might cause concern with neighbors?  
And of course, there’s Weather.  Spring and Summer 2015 in Washington DC has been epic.  I don’t remember a season with as much rain and storming as the one we are currently living through.  If you are not renting a tent, a well thought out alternative needs to be in place in the event of Mother Nature.  This particular home was palatial so 100 guests could actually fit indoors easily, but most homes do not have that luxury.  A tent may seem like an unnecessary expense – until you wish you had ordered one!
However, this particular wedding reception had one perk that the wedding party – especially the groomsmen – took full advantage after a hot and humid afternoon…
