Engagement Season is right around the corner in the wedding catering industry.  Catering By Teatime will be flooded with email inquiries and phone calls as the year turns to 2016.  And of course who doesn’t want an awesome party?!  Celebrating with close friends and family, creating lasting memories.  It goes without saying that there should be abundant food options, our catering team can nail that one hands down.  We also offer advice for the alcohol which includes basic quantities.  Our catering company provides off site options from full bar to wine/beer selections.  Typically our clients purchase the alcohol and we provide the bartending service.

Getting crazy with the alcohol may sound like a lot of fun in the planning stages especially if you have a large circle of friends who like to party hearty.  Yet, this can easily derail if the bartenders aren’t diligent, cocktail hour too long, or the worst offender:  SHOTS.

It can also be a budget buster.  Serving a wine/beer only bar help keeps expenses down, and many local purveyors will allow you to return unopened cases of wine or beer.  Often a client will select one or two “Signature Drinks” to augment a wine/beer offering, introducing a minimal hard alcohol component without significant $$ damage.

Guests from the Washington DC and Northern Virginia area entertain and are entertained frequently by the myriad of local options:  restaurants, wineries, historic properties.  We have, unfortunately, seen drunken bridesmaids taking a plunge into the Potomac River.  Or Pool.  We have seen members of the wedding party dropping a glass on a dance floor and other guests dancing barefoot through the glass.  We have discovered upon cleaning and breakdown, various guests under tables.  Over the years we have seen all levels of  “argument” including a mother – daughter brawl in the bushes; multiple bridal party “indiscretions”, and an epic “You can’t marry him, it’s ME you love!!”.

These scenarios are best left to reality TV, not your wedding reception.  Save the shots for the after party.  Create lasting memories that have a chance of lasting.  There are spectacular wine options available for every imaginable palate.  We can provide delicious pairings.
