Catering Wedding at Stone Tower Winery
Wedding Reception at Stone Tower Winery at Sunset |
Catering By Teatime recently had the pleasure of catering a fabulous wedding reception at Stone Tower Winery, a stunning wedding venue located atop Hogback Mountain in Leesburg VA www.stonetowerwinery.com
We are in the summer season here in Washington DC, but the weather cooperated and our bride and groom were able to marry outside by the pond. Following the ceremony the guests gathered in the tasting room for the cocktail hour while Teatime bartenders served wines, beers, and signature drinks Captain and Coke as well as Fresh Squeezed Lemonade and Vodka.

This menu was a lot of fun to put together. For a stationary appetizer display we set up Assorted Domestic and Imported Cheeses with Crackers on a table near the bar.

Other passed appetizers included Miniature Chicken and Waffles; Bruschetta with toppings of Tomato Basil, Herb Cheese, Chesapeake Crab Salad. But by far the big hit (at least with the groom!!) was Ruth’s Deviled Eggs with Smoked Salmon

After the cocktail hour, the guests were invited into the main dining room, a stunning room with floor to ceiling windows that look out over the 300 plus acres of Virginia countryside.

The catering staff of Teatime opened a second bar inside the main dining room, and the buffet dinner began. Ruth’s House Salad of Mixed Greens-Tomato-Scallion-Pecans-Dried Cranberry-Gorgonzola Cheese in a balsamic Vinaigrette; Chicken Picatta; Carved Steamship Round of Beef; Garlic Roasted Red Bliss Potatoes; Penne in a Vodka Sauce; Fresh Fruit Arrangement with Seasonal Fruits; Artisanal Break Basket.

I think the staff of Teatime features competitive Fruit Arrangement challenges to see who can create the most beautiful displays!! All staff wins.

If you follow Ruth’s blog with any regularity, you know a wedding cake is about to happen. No disappointment here, we created a three tier satin ribbon design set on one of the winery’s wine barrels, an Italian Coconut Cream Cake with Cream Cheese Filling

This bride and groom, Heather and Kristian, wanted to make the sweet end to their meal a little more personal. Instead of just a wedding cake, they also wanted me to recreate their favorite childhood desserts. They both got copies of the recipes from their moms, and we created Kristian’s Mom’s Strawberry Cake and Heather’s Mom’s Cheesecake with Cherry Topping. But the most fun HAD to be the Dirt Pudding with Gummy Worms! We layered Vanilla Custard-Whipped Cream-Crushed Oreo Cookies and of course, the worms. I am here on record as having catered hundreds of wedding receptions over the year, and this was a first.
